I'm Kristi Short and I'm running to represent you on the Matanuska Susitna Borough Assembly

  • Our exploding population is threatening our MatSu Lifestyle. Pot-holes, increased traffic, crime? These problems will grow with time without a forward-looking plan.

  • I own my own business and know how important a balanced budget is.

  • I feel that property owners carry too much of the tax burden in the MatSu and we need to correct that.

  • I am a big proponent of tourism and would like to help plan for 2024 Arctic Winter Games.

  • I follow through with projects to completion and am considerate of all the opinions.

Please vote for Kristi Short for Assembly District 6.

Lifelong Alaskan

Kristi was born and raised in Alaska, mostly in the MatSu. She lives in Hatcher Pass with her fiancé and two children. She grew up in Palmer where she became interested in  agriculture in high school and she is still involved in the Alaska FFA Alumni. She graduated Colorado State University with a BS in Natural Resources Management, and a minor in Recreation and Tourism. She has worked for the Mat-Su Farm Bureau, State of Alaska Division of Agriculture and a local farm, Bushes Bunches, as their Farm Manager.

Business Owner

Kristi owns Alaska Farm Tours, LLC, and works there as a tour guide and food deliverer. Kristi took over Alaska Farm Tours in 2020, the hardest year in the history of tourism in Alaska. She guided the company through the pandemic remaining true to her mission to support local agriculture.

Tourism

With Kristi's background and business in tourism, she is excited to see the Arctic Winter Games coming to the MatSu in 2024. She hopes to foster the Games through active support while on the Assembly. The increase in tourism associated with the Games will provide challenges for infrastructure in the Borough and Kristi will seek to find solutions for the Games and beyond.

Dollar Bills

Small Businesses and Fiscal Responsibility

Kristi knows the myriad of problems small businesses have had over the past two years. She became owner of Alaska Farm Tours, LLC, in 2020, but has worked hard to keep the business going. She also realizes that the bottom line is important and will work to maintain a responsible budget for the Borough.
